Starting and finishing in the ancient market town of Marazion, overlooking the magnificent Mount's Bay and St.Michael's Mount in West Cornwall, the Mount's Bay 10k was a new race for 2004.
To be run at the beginning of February, the event will be part of the Sandy Hill Physical Therapy Centre Cornish Grand Prix series and attracts a large competitive field from the county and beyond.
The organizers,
local running club Hayle Runners, have devised a single lap, runner friendly, safe and
scenic route through undulating country lanes which has been accurately measured and
is well marshaled.
St John's Ambulance will be following the last runner in attendance and staff
will be on the finish line.
Toilets, changing and showering facilities
along with refreshments will be available. Limited
car parking is available at the race venue, (aprox) 150 cars alternative public parking is
available in Marazion town. Competitors will receive a Tee-shirt, goodie bag and
refreshments on the finish line. There will be a full range of individual
and team awards in line with other Grand Prix events and full results will be published on
this web site the same
evening.
Prizes :-
1st, 2nd and 3rd Women and men will receive
vouchers to the value of £100, £50 and £25 to be spent at the Cornwall
running store.
Men, 1st , 2nd , 3rd in categories 18-40 Vet 40,45, 50,55,60,65,70
Women 1st , 2nd , 3rd in categories 18-30 Vet 35,40,45,50,55,60
Team Prizes 6 Male, 4 Female to count (6 teams)
There will also be an award for the course record (Male 32:38 , Female 37:03)
The Ray Tuffnell prize
will be awarded to the team with the most entries.
Marazion has much to offer the visitor, so why not stay on after the race and enjoy a drink or a meal at a local hostelry, a walk on the beach or maybe a visit to the fantastic St.Michael's Mount.
The race has a limit of 400 entries so enter early to avoid disappointment. Last year the race was full long before the closing date.
